In the aftermath of Nargis, the group who would later go on to establish Radanar Ayar used their own resources to help affected farmers in the cyclone-devastated areas. These include rice millers and rice traders who are also private philanthropists. Radanar Ayar Association was first founded as a sister-organization of Myanmar Rice Industry Association.
Myanmar Agricultural Development Bank increased its loan size per acre to Kyat 50,000 from 2012 monsoon agriculture season. Farmers can take out a loan for Kyat 500,000 (max) for 10 acres. The MADB said that the increased loan size will be available in townships were repayment rates have been 100%. Not sure how many township have 100% rate.
