At the frontline of COVID-19 preparedness across Myanmar, LIFT has mobilised support to over 30 existing implementing partners (IPs), at a very short notice, and some in challenging circumstances. LIFT is providing assistance where it is needed most, as Myanmar braces itself for stricter measures to stop the spread of the novel coronavirus.
These measures are likely to result in more restrictions of movement, a loss of livelihoods and income and increased uncertainty for all, but especially so for migrants, displaced and the peri-urban poor. LIFT’s efforts support households and communities, while particularly focused on those at a heightened risk during this time of a global health crisis; the elderly, people with disabilities and pregnant and breastfeeding mothers.
The response by LIFT’s implementing partners focuses on supporting these most vulnerable groups by utilising existing networks and mechanisms for swift mobilisation. LIFT’s strong partnerships with the Government, civil society organisations, ethnic service providers and LIFT’s strategic partners are in a key role, as the response is likely to become increasingly national. Partnerships with organisations in non-Government-controlled areas are also crucial, as is working with faith-based organisations.
As part of the immediate response across the country, LIFT partners are focused on information, awareness-raising and behaviour change around WaSH, remodelling existing projects to produce face masks, hand soap and hand sanitizer, providing COVID-19 preparedness kits including sanitizer, paracetamol and thermometers to beneficiaries, and mobile handwashing stations. With LIFT’s support as part of the COVID-19 immediate response, partners in Rakhine are working to reach villages and camps, and internally displaced people in camps in Kachin and Northern Shan State are benefitting from a disinfection campaign, fever scanning and a referral medical pathway system. They are also provided with essential medicines in the camp clinics.
Established community-based social protection mechanisms are used to help beneficiaries adapt to loss of income and health costs. Migrants are offered legal assistance and temporary places to stay, and workers having lost their jobs can receive legal and financial assistance from LIFT’s partners. LIFT’s financial inclusion partners are also preparing to expand credit availability during the current period of uncertainty, in which conditions are evolving rapidly.

မြန်မာနိုင်ငံတဝှမ်းရှိ COVID-19 အတွက် အရေးပေါ်ပြင်ဆင်နေမှှုများတွင် LIFTကလည်း ပါဝင်ဆောင်ရွက်လျက် ရှိပါသည်။ အခက်အခဲ အချို့ရှိနေသော်လည်း လက်ရှိ လက်တွဲဆောင်ရွက်သော စီမံချက်အကောင်ထည်ဖော်သည့် မိတ်ဖက်အဖွဲ့ (၃ဝ)ကို စုစည်းပြီး ပံ့ပိုးဆောင်ရွက်မှုများ လုပ်ဆောင်ကြရန် အချိန်တိုအတွင်းတွင်ပင် ဆက်သွယ် အကြောင်းကြား ပေးခဲ့ပါသည်။ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံအနေဖြင့် နိုဗယ်ကိုရိုနာဗိုင်းရပ်စ်ပြန့်ပွားမှုကို ရပ်တန့်နိုင်ရန်အတွက် တင်းကျပ်သည့် ကာကွယ် တားဆီးမှုများကို လုပ်ဆောင်လျက်ရှိရာတွင် အကူအညီ အလိုအပ်ဆုံးနေရာများကို LIFT က ပံ့ပိုးပေးလျက် ရှိပါသည်။

ဖွဲ့စည်းထားပြီးဖြစ်သည့် ရပ်ရွာအခြေပြု လူမှုကာကွယ်စောင့်ရှောက်မှု အစီအမံများကို အသုံးပြုပြီး စီမံချက်အကျိုးခံစားရသူ များကို ဝင်ငွေဆုံးရှုံးမှုများနှင့် ကျန်းမာရေးကုန်ကျစရိတ်များ ကာမိစေရန် ဆောင်ရွက်လျက်ရှိပါသည်။ ရွှေ့ပြောင်းလုပ်သား များ အား ဥပဒေရေးရာအကူအညီများ ပေးအပ်ပြီး ယာယီနေထိုင်နိုင်မည့် နေရာများကို စီစဉ်ပေးထားပါသည်။ အလုပ် မရှိတော့သည့် လုပ်သားများအနေဖြင့် ဥပဒေရေးရာ အကူအညီနှင့် ငွေကြေးအထောက်အပံံများရရှိစေရန် ဆောင်ရွက် ထားရှိပါသည်။ အလျင်အမြန်ပြောင်းလဲ နေပြီး မသေချာမရေရာမှုများဖြစ်နေသည့် ယခုကဲ့သိုအချိန်အခါတွင် LIFT၏ အားလုံးအကျုံးဝင်ပါဝင်နိုင်သော ငွေကြေးစီမံကိန်း မိတ်ဖက်အဖွဲ့များမှလည်း ချေးငွေပံ့ပိုးမှုများကို တိုးချဲ့ရန် ပြင်ဆင်ဆောင်ရွက်လျက်ပါသည်။
