The farming systems analysis can be beneficial
to farmers themselves. As a direct benefit, the
whole process can provide capacity development
opportunities for them to reflect on their own
practices and gain the “bigger picture” of the
agricultural development issues in their region.
Indirectly, the farming systems analysis may also
benefit farmers as it builds knowledge about
family farming and could help to formulate
recommendations that might be taken up for
their policies and programs by the government,
development agencies or local action groups to
support family farms.
